Matlea Technologies Ltd.

Privacy Policy

How Matlea collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you visit our site or use our services.

Last updated: 8 October 2026

1. Who we are

Matlea Technologies Ltd. ("Matlea", "we", "us", or "our") operates this website and the Matlea services. For privacy questions, contact privacy@matlea.com. For general enquiries, contact hello@matlea.com.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with Matlea, we may collect:

  • Enquiry information: your name, email address, phone number, restaurant name, and the contents of your enquiry.
  • Workspace information: restaurant details, menus, service rules, promotions, reservation settings, loyalty settings, and other information an authorised restaurant user adds.
  • Service information: order, reservation, customer-history, loyalty, promotion, and voice-interaction data processed to provide an enabled service.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, security logs, and information about how you use the site.
  • Payment information: billing details needed to charge for selected services. Payment card details are handled by the payment provider used for the transaction.

Where Matlea processes guest or customer data inside a restaurant workspace, the restaurant will usually decide why and how that data is processed. In that context, the restaurant may be the controller and Matlea may process the data on its instructions under the applicable agreement.

3. How we use information

We use personal data to:

  • provide, secure, maintain, and support the website and selected Matlea services;
  • read and process menu, order, reservation, promotion, loyalty, and customer-context information when those capabilities are enabled;
  • respond to enquiries and communicate about service operation, security, billing, or important changes;
  • prevent misuse, investigate incidents, troubleshoot faults, and improve reliability;
  • meet legal, regulatory, accounting, and record-keeping obligations; and
  • send optional marketing communications only where permitted and where the required consent or other lawful basis exists.

We use an appropriate lawful basis for each purpose, such as performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, legitimate interests, or consent. We do not use voice or order data to make solely automated decisions about people with legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Voice, order, and guest data

When a restaurant enables phone ordering or related capabilities, Matlea may process call audio, transcripts or extracted conversation details, menu selections, customer instructions, order details, reservation details, and relevant customer history. The restaurant is responsible for giving its guests any additional notices required for its use of those capabilities and for configuring the service lawfully.

5. Sharing information

We may share information with:

  • service providers that host, secure, support, process payments for, or help operate Matlea;
  • the restaurant or organisation that controls the relevant workspace;
  • professional advisers, insurers, auditors, or authorities where reasonably necessary;
  • law enforcement or regulators where required by law; and
  • a buyer or successor if Matlea is involved in a merger, financing, restructuring, or sale.

We do not sell personal data. We require providers that process data for us to use it only for the agreed purpose and to protect it appropriately.

6. International transfers

Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where UK data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we will use an approved transfer mechanism and appropriate contractual or organisational protections.

7. Retention

We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose collected, the relevant service agreement, security and audit requirements, or a legal obligation. Retention periods can differ for enquiries, account records, voice and order records, billing records, and backups. Restaurant customers may have additional retention instructions or obligations for data in their workspace.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability of your personal data, and to object to or withdraw consent for certain processing. You can contact privacy@matlea.com to exercise a right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

9. Security and changes

We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure. We may update this notice when our services, data uses, or legal obligations change; the date above shows when it was last reviewed.
